Research Topic: Investigation of material system to reduce the warpage observed in 3D-printed semi-crystalline parts from recycled High-density polyethylene

The semi-crystalline polymer, HDPE is one of the most common plastic packaging materials that needs to be recycled to boost the circular economy, fused filament fabrication (FFF) additive manufacturing is in need of source of semi-crystalline material to enrich the material feedstock profile available with good mechanical performance, ease of processing as well as cost-effectiveness. Therefore, to upcycle HDPE into FFF 3D printing filament feedstock seems a promising approach. However, warpage, a dimensional inaccuracy in 3D-printed parts based on semi-crystalline material is severe. As a consequence, to find a optimized printing material system based on HDPE via adding filler to interfere the crystallization nature is the key point of my study.
