Sustainability at The University of AkronSustainability Events

See below all sustainability related events, speakers or noteworthy happenings on the UA campus.

Image17.jpegPaper Making is ESW’s most popular event. It features shredding and wetting paper to make paper pulp. The paper pulp is used to be sieved on a net webbing to make the paper or a bookmark shape. The wet paper is laid flat and dried. Our amazing, repurposed paper is used for our design team superlative awards at ESW’s End of Semester (EOS) Bash!

Candle Making is a DIY event making candles out of old melted crayons and essential oils. We melted some beeswax and a lot of crayons to make the wax for the candle. Recently, ESW has begun reusing material to hold the wax for the candle to make all the materials reused.

General Body Meetings (GBM) are held once a month and involve either a presentation on sustainable features or an environmentally friendly craft! GBM’s meeting times are posted regularly on ESW Instagram.
