Akron Law and ABA Center for Professional Responsibility to Co-Sponsor Symposium on Professional Responsibility and Ethics

AKRON LAW AND AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION CENTER FOR PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILTY TO CO-SPONSOR SYMPOSIUM ON PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ETHICS

Akron, Ohio, Sept. 8, 2009 - The Akron Law's Joseph G. Miller and William C. Becker Center for Professional Responsibility is holding its inaugural symposium titled "Lawyers Beyond Borders" and "Practicing Law in the Electronic Age" on Oct. 8 and 9 at Quaker Square Inn at The University of Akron, 135 South Broadway, Akron, Ohio. The symposium is co-sponsored by the American Bar Association Center for Professional Responsibility.

Renowned authorities in the fields of professional responsibility and ethics will examine multiple current issues. Among the issues raised will be how the technological and the multi-jurisdictional nature of practice raises a variety of challenges for lawyers, judges and teachers in an increasingly more global and high-tech practice of law today.

Stephen Gillers of New York University School of Law, will be the luncheon keynote speaker. His topic is titled "The Ohio Supreme Court's Total Ban on Litigation Funding Companies Helps Defendants Squeeze Plaintiffs Into Submission In Order to Protect...Nothing of Value."

The registration fee for those seeking CLE credits is $75 for general public; $50 for UA School of Law alumni.  7.5 CLE credit hours have been requested.  If not seeking CLE credit, symposium is free of charge.  Further information and registration is available online at www.uakron.edu/law.
