Richard C. Fedorovich appointed to UA Board of Trustees

Fedorovich.jpgThe University of Akron (UA) proudly announces the appointment of Richard C. Fedorovich, CPA, to its Board of Trustees. Fedorovich was appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine for a term effective July 11, 2024, and ending July 1, 2033. He will fill the vacancy created by the expiration of William A. Scala’s term on July 1, 2024.

A distinguished UA alumnus, Fedorovich earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1974. He currently serves as executive chairman of Bober Markey Fedorovich (BMF), a prominent regional accounting and advisory firm based in Akron. He joined the firm in 1980, was elected partner in 1982, and served as managing partner from 1996 until he assumed his current role in January 2021. Under his leadership, BMF has grown significantly and earned a reputation for excellence in the industry.

“We are pleased to welcome Rick Fedorovich to the Board of Trustees,” said UA President R.J. Nemer. “I am sure Rick will be invaluable as we continue to advance our mission and strategic goals.”

Lewis W. Adkins Jr., chair of the UA Board of Trustees, echoed the sentiment. “Rick is a fantastic addition, and we look forward to his insight as the University continues to transform and evolve as a premiere institution of higher learning.”

Fedorovich has a long history of civic support. He currently serves as board chair for the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) and Business Volunteers Unlimited (BVU).  He has served as board chair for the Greater Akron Chamber, Akron Community Foundation and Cleveland Clinic Akron General Health System. He also serves on the boards of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, The Cleveland Clinic, Archbishop Hoban High School and many others. He is a graduate of both Leadership Akron and Leadership Cleveland and chaired each board. He has received many accolades including the H. Peter Burg Economic Development Leadership Award, the Northeast Ohio Pillar Award for Outstanding Community Service, the Boy Scouts of America and Rotary Club of Fairlawn Distinguished Community Service Award, the United Way of Summit and Medina County Distinguished Service Award, the Distinguished Alumni Award from both Archbishop Hoban High School and The University of Akron and The Frank L. Simonetti Distinguished Alumnus Award from UA’s College of Business.

“It is an incredible honor to support my alma mater in this capacity,” said Fedorovich. “The University of Akron has played a significant role in shaping my career and personal development. I look forward to contributing to its continued success and helping guide its future growth.”
