UA corrosion engineering students awarded scholarships at 2024 AMPP Conference + Expo
The Department of Chemical, Biomolecular and Corrosion Engineering is proud to announce that 13 students in The University of Akron’s (UA) corrosion engineering program attended the 2024 Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Conference + Expo in New Orleans, LA. AMPP is a global community of professionals dedicated to materials protection through the advancement of corrosion control and protective coatings.
At the annual conference, students had opportunities to attend information seminars regarding specific corrosion phenomena and other events showcasing technology used in the corrosion field. UA students Yuhan Su, Yousef Shorrab and Zichen Ling also presented their graduate student research to a panel of judges at the Student Poster Session. Ling received third place in the Harvey Herro (Herro-Appleman) Prize for Applied Materials Protection Technology category for his research regarding “Vegetable Oil-Based Waterborne Non-Isocyanate Polyurethane Coating.”
Seven students were selected for multiple scholarships presented through the EMERG (Engage, Magnetize, Educate, Raise and Guide) AMPP Student Academic Scholarship Program. Congratulations to the following students:
