Ten graduating engineering students receive $10,000 gift to reduce student debt
Award recipients participated in a virtual awards ceremony.
Since its 2012 establishment, the Trajectory Award has recognized graduating seniors in UA’s College of Engineering who have demonstrated excellence in academic and extra-curricular, co-curricular, civic and volunteer activities. In keeping with the tenet that ‘to whom much is given, much is expected’ recipients have also shown their willingness to contribute to the wellbeing of others, as their potential to become future community leaders.
Each award winner received $10,000 to pay back federal loan debt. The Trajectory Award is meant to relieve some of the financial burden that might otherwise hinder students after graduation.
Faculty in the College of Engineering were notified of the opportunity to nominate students for the award. The nominated students then submitted essays and letters of recommendation from co-op sponsors and others, along with evidence of leadership, community involvement, and academic excellence.
The seniors were honored at a Trajectory Award virtual reception where they personally thanked the Northeast Ohio couple who generously endowed this award, and discussed with them the meaning behind being honored in leadership and giving back.
