CPSPE faculty and staff are a vital part to the success of the college. Recently, we asked Melissa Bowman, Department of Polymer Science Coordinator of Academic Programs to share her experience working at CPSPE. Here are her responses:
What is your role in CPSPE?
My actual title is Coordinator of Academic Programs, and although my role encompasses many aspects of the academic side from admission to graduation and alumni relations, I feel my primary responsibility is recruitment and admissions for our degree programs.
What do you enjoy about being a part of CPSPE?
My biggest reward is watching the transformation of our students as they grow and develop into amazing, and mature scientists. I enjoy the diversity of our students and getting to know them, their families, and their cultures. It allows me to have a small role in this huge universe, and feel that I am a part of something way bigger than I can see or even know.
I also enjoy the team atmosphere that the college offers. Many of the events that I coordinate would not be possible if the folks in the college were not all members of the same team, pursuing similar goals in education.
Do you have any news about yourself and/or your family you’d like to share?
I volunteer Saturday mornings at Happy Trails Farm Sanctuary in Ravenna. I feed the animals and clean the barns. Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes criminally abused, neglected and abandoned farm animals. It is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that relies solely on private donations. All of the rehabilitated animals are up for adoption.
