College of Engineering professor elected AIAA Associate Fellow

Dr. Alexander Povitsky, associate professor of mechanical engineering at The University of Akron, has been elected to the grade of Associate Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) in recognition of his notable and valuable contributions in computational aerodynamics.

Before joining the University of Akron in 2003, Dr. Povitsky was a senior scientist at the Institute of Computer Applications (ICASE) at NASA Langley Research Center. His research has been funded by the US Air Force, Air Force Research Laboratory, NASA, US Navy, US Army, NSF, industry and the State of Ohio.
