Battelle Scientists Meet with Polymer Faculty to Discuss Common Interests in Biomedical Research
The College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering hosted a March 16 visit with Dr. Steve Risser, Research Leader, and Dr. Erik Edwards, Sr. Research Scientist, from Battelle’s Advanced Materials Group. Battelle is the largest, private, non-profit research and development organization in the world. They conduct research and development, manage laboratories, design and manufacture products, and deliver critical services for their clients. The visiting researchers are interested in potential collaboration in the area of biomedical materials and applications. The visit included overviews of both Battelle and the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, faculty research presentations, a tour, and a poster session.
The researchers were impressed with the college’s faculty and capabilities. “The research we saw today is certainly of significant relevance to Battelle’s interests and the needs expressed by companies in the biomedical market” said Dr. Erik Edwards.
The informative meeting full of rich knowledge about Battelle and the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering strengthened the aspirations to continue the exploration of a collaborative partnership. The visit also encouraged promotion among the college, the university, and the polymer industry. The meeting prompted new ambitions for future opportunities and collaboration.
