Research Symposium

The Williams Honors College hosts a Research Symposium in the Fall and Spring semesters, where students have an opportunity to present the research and projects that they have undertaken. Moreover, our guests will have a chance to learn more about the Honors Research Projects and what's going on in the college. The presentations are meant to be short, informal summaries of the work, and normally are presented as poster.

The Symposium will take place in the Williams Honors Complex and students will display their work throughout the space. As guests, faculty, and other students explore, our students will be expected to be available for approximately an hour to discuss their project and answer questions.

Students are invited to submit a brief summary of their project, prepared as three slides using PowerPoint or similar software.

  • The first slide should be a title slide, containing your name(s), project title, major, etc.
  • The remaining two slides should summarize the work and highlight its accomplishments.

This is intended to be a brief description of your project and its important contributions. UA PowerPoint templates are available at www.uakron.edu/im/resources/brand/powerpoint.

Fall 2023

The Fall 2022 Research Showcase will be held on December 8, 2023 in the Williams Honors College complex.

Spring 2024

The Spring 2024 Research Showcase will be held on May 3, 2024 for students to highlight their accomplishments. Registration information will be posted February, 2024.

There are a number of majors that require students to present their Honors Research Project in a separate event. Students in these majors will not have to present their projects twice, but instead are allowed to only present at their department event. These programs include

  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Business – Integrated Business Forum
  • Economics
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Interior Design
  • Mechanical Engineering

and this list will be updated as additional opportunities arise. In addition, students that present work related to their Honors Project at an alternative event are also not required to participate in the Williams Honors College Research Showcase.
