Serve on advisory councils
Advisory councils consist of alumni volunteers who generously donate their time to provide expertise and guidance to academic programs. Currently, within the College of Engineering and Polymer Science, there are advisory councils for each academic program, as well as the Women in Engineering program and the Increasing Diversity in Engineering Academics program.
Industry partnerships
Our research projects are developed in partnership with key national and international industry partners in response to the need for solutions to global, national and regional engineering challenges. We offer 12 research centers and institutes with experts in the fields of tribology, polymer engineering, polymer science, biomimicry, sustainability/clean energy, finishing technology, tire physics and more. Employment opportunities
University of Akron engineering students provide a skilled talent pool to industry. Our widely known and respected co-op and placement program provides students with jobs while they are in school and places them in permanent positions when they graduate. Event sponsorship
The College offers a wide variety of events to support financially as an event sponsor, such as events that introduce youth to STEM, like our Kids Career Day, or student events (Zips Racing Sponsor Day, Zips Engineered for Success meet-ups) to College sponsored events for current students throughout the year. We rely on the generous support from the corporate sector to fund these events to make sure our students are celebrated and the pipeline for future scientists and engineers continues for years to come. Diverse Engineering sponsorship
UA’s first podcast celebrating diverse voices and stories of UA engineering graduates debuted in 2020 and has over 1,000 downloads to date! Hosted by UA alumna EbaNee Bond, sponsorship funds support the Women in Engineering and Increasing Diversity in Engineering Academics programs. Check out our podcast.
