Reading Endorsement for K-12 Teachers
The University of Akron Reading Endorsement program is a fully online program that prepares licensed educators to add a K-12 reading endorsement to any standard teaching license such as Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, Intervention Specialist, Adolescence to Young Adult (AYA), or Multi-Age licenses. Applicants who have recently completed a phonics course prior to completing tthe endorsement program will need to complete only five of the courses to obtain the endorsement.
The courses in this endorsement program can be applied towards the Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with Literacy Endorsement.
Requirements:
- The Reading/Literacy endorsement prepares K-12 teachers to help their students become effective readers. It must be attached to an existing teaching license.
- Passing the Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE) Reading Subtests 1 & 2 is required at the end of the program to obtain the state endorsement.
