Parenting Student Resources
We believe that childcare concerns should never be a barrier to academic persistence and success. UA offered a number of resources aimed at supporting parenting students in achieving their academic goals while balancing the demands of family life.
Emergency Financial Assistance
The University of Akron recently launched a new childcare assistance program and if you have any questions, contact Alison Doehring at aer15@uakron.edu to be directly connected to resources.
Students who wish to apply for the program can submit a Help-A-Zip referral and indicate “Childcare Assistance.” UA and the Akron Area YMCA are working closely to make sure that students are connected to the right resources and financial aid options, with five YMCA locations available for families to choose from.

The University of Akron also partners with a variety of community partners to help support student success for example we offer case management and family assistance programs through The Salvation Army of Summit County.
