Akron Law Trial Team Competes in Battle of Ohio Competition
Akron, Ohio, Dec. 1, 2008 - The University of Akron School of Law trial team recently returned from competing in the Battle of Ohio Competition. Student advocates Ashleigh Kendrick, Vicki Serrani, Amanda Quan, Alex Quay, Tim Gallagher, Eric Ledger, Brendan Flannery and Amanda Bizub-Franzmann participated in the competition. Eric Ledger was named Outstanding Advocate. The team was coached by trial team alumni Sandra Davenport ('07) and Aaron Howell ('06).

Jane Moriarty has accepted an invitation to present at a symposium organized by the History Department at Carnegie Mellon University focusing on Jay Aronson's recently-published book,Genetic Witness: Science, Law, and Controversy in the Making of DNA Profiling (Rutgers University Press, 2007). Kalyani Robbins is organizing a panel entitled "The Future of the ESA: Suggestions for the New Administration," for the Public Interest Environmental Law Conference at the University of Oregon in late February. Elizabeth Reilly will present a work-in-progress at Northern Kentucky University in the spring as part of our scholar exchange with Chase. Jane Moriarty's Neuroscience, Law and Government Symposium was featured in a post on the Stanford Center for Law and Biosciences Blog.

Akron Law Trial Team is Runner-up in National Competition
Akron, Ohio, Nov. 19, 2008 - The University of Akron School of Law trial team had another strong performance at the recent Buffalo/Niagara National Criminal Trial Tournament in Buffalo, NY. The team, comprised of student advocates Steve Fannin, Ashley Faris, Theresa Bratton and Nick Dodosh finished in second place. They defeated five opponents in the preliminary, quarterfinal and semifinal rounds before a narrow loss to Duquesne. The team was coached by 2005 Akron Law graduates Stephanie Adams and Rami Awadallah.
