The June 3 issue of BNA's Patent, Trademark & Copyright Journal has an article citing the amicus brief the IP Center filed in a case recently decided by the Federal Circuit involving the standard for inequitable conduct in patent cases.  The brief was authored by Robert Kahrl, practitioner-in-residence and professor, and he is cited a number of times in the article. Jane Campbell Moriarty Receives the 2011 Scholar of the Year Award
Professor Jane Campbell Moriarty received the 2011 Scholar of the Year Award at The University of Akron School of Law 2011 commencement ceremony. Members of the Akron Law Review select the recipient of this award. This year, the students selected Moriarty on the basis of her nationally recognized contributions to the legal community, which includes four books with a second edition of her casebook coming out this year, 16 articles and essays, with two more currently in progress.

Alan Newman Receives 2011 Outstanding Professor of the Year Award
Professor Alan Newman received the 2011 Outstanding Professor of the Year Award at The University of Akron School of Law 2011 commencement ceremony. Each year, members of the law school's graduating class nominate professors for the Outstanding Professor of the Year Award. The class then selects from among the top nominees and presents the award at the law school's commencement ceremony.

Dr. Francis Gurry to Speak at Akron Law Commencement May 15
The University of Akron School of Law will hold its 87th Commencement Ceremony at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 16 at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall. The 2011 UA School of Law commencement speaker will be Dr. Francis Gurry, director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization.
