NPR's Diane Rehm coming to UA

02/02/2010

The University of Akron Forum Series will present an evening with NPR host Diane Rehm on Wednesday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, 198 Hill St. Her visit is sponsored by UA's College of Creative and Professional Arts’ Mary Schiller Myers Lecture Series in partnership with WCPN-FM.

As the host of the popular public radio talk show, The Diane Rehm Show, which is distributed nationally and internationally by NPR and Serius Satellite, Diane Rehm has interviewed many high-profile political and cultural figures during her 36 years in radio.

In 1998, her career nearly came to a halt because of a mysterious speech problem which was finally diagnosed as spasmodic dysphonia, a neurological disorder. Not one to be defeated, she returned to the show and made a point of bringing attention to the condition. Diane has been the recipient of many awards and has written two autobiographical books.

Tickets are $8 general admission, $6 for seniors and UA faculty/staff, and $4 UA students. There will be open seating. Tickets are available at the Thomas Hall Ticket Office at 330-972-7570, Ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster locations or charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000.
