Jazz pianist Joe Augustine, artist-in-residence at The University of Akron School of Music, is releasing his newest CD on Sunday, Nov. 13, with a 3 p.m. concert at the Stage Door of E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, 198 Hill St. on the UA campus.

"Remembering You" was written entirely by Augustine. Many of the 13 songs are dedicated to friends of the UA School of Music. "Sassy Sally" is dedicated to Westfield Center residents Sally and Bob Syme and "Inspired" is dedicated to Copley residents Guy and Renee Pipitone. "Reminisce" is dedicated to the late UA President Emeritus Dominic Guzzetta and "License to Groove" is dedicated to Silver Lake residents Ed and Fran Bittle. "Zip It" celebrates Zippy, the UA mascot.

During the concert, which is part of UA's Kulas Concert Series, Augustine will perform with UA jazz faculty members Dean Newton, Tim Powell, Mark Gonder and Rock Wehrmann.

Joe Augustine's newest CD was produced by the School of Music to raise funds for its All-Steinway Piano Campaign.

Seating is club-style at tables. Refreshments and "Remembering You" CDs will be for sale. CDs are $15.

Tickets are $10 for general admission; $8 for seniors and UA faculty/staff/alumni/parents of UA students; $5 for non-UA students; and free for UA students with Zip Cards. Tickets are limited, and advance purchase is recommended. Call 330-972-7570 or visit the Thomas Hall Ticket Office.

In addition to teaching and performing at the UA School of Music, Augustine has a key role in the school's All-Steinway Piano Campaign. Achieving an All-Steinway designation — meaning that all of its 83 pianos are manufactured by Steinway — is a major fundraising initiative for the UA School of Music. The school has produced "Remembering You" to help generate support for the campaign.

Augustine is also a Steinway Artist, which means that he is a member of the renowned piano company's worldwide roster. Members of that elite group include such music legends as Irving Berlin, Harry Connick Jr., Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Vladimir Horowitz, Diana Krall, and Igor Stravinsky.
