Dr. Shirla R. McClain Gallery to celebrate Akron’s black police officers, firefighters

The Dr. Shirla R. McClain Gallery of Akron's Black History and Culture, part of The University of Akron’s Office of Multicultural Development, will host Red, Black and Blue, an exhibit celebrating Akron’s black police officers and firefighters. The gallery will host an opening reception on Sunday, April 17, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The Dr. Shirla R. McClain Gallery of Akron's Black History and Culture was established to reflect and promote the African-American community in Greater Akron as an important part of the history and culture of the region. The gallery develops and displays exhibits and related programs that portray the history and culture of Akron's African-American community. It is a community repository and a teaching vehicle of the African-American experience in Greater Akron. The gallery is located in the Buckingham Center for Continuing Education, 220 Wolf Ledges Pkwy., on the UA campus.
