UA students, others join to support Japan

03/29/2011

As a university with a global reach, UA has a long record of supporting those in need worldwide. In recent years, our students, faculty and staff have reached out to people in Haiti, Louisiana, Indonesia and other lands befallen by disaster.

Now, with news about new strife and suffering in Japan and elsewhere, UA is once again pulling together to help.

UA's Division of Student Engagement and Success is leading the effort, working with ShelterBox USA, a nonprofit that creates and distributes relief supplies to disaster zones. ShelterBox provides tents and other lifesaving supplies in watertight boxes to victims. Learn more.

The division has set a goal of $5,000. You can contribute today on UA's ShelterBox site.

Separately, you can donate to the Red Cross by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific.
