The International Sculpture Center (ISC) has named Akron resident Brittany Dell’Aglio-Mitchell to receive its 2010 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award.

Dell’Aglio-Mitchell graduated summa cum laude from The University of Akron’s Myers School of Art in May with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture. She also is a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School.
While at The University of Akron she received a scholarship from the UA Myers School of Art and a travel grant from the school’s Malcolm J. Dashiell Fund to attend Art Basel Miami in 2009. Earlier this year she had a solo exhibition at the Red Light Gallery in Akron. Since 2007, her work has been exhibited several times at the Akron Area Arts Alliance’s Summit Artspace Gallery.
Dell’Aglio-Mitchell is one of only 20 ISC award winners chosen from 445 students nominated by 176 universities, colleges and art schools in 16 countries. Artist and educator Creighton Michael, curator Rocio Aranda-Alvarado and artist Oliver Herring selected the winners through a competitive viewing of submitted sculptural works.
Sculptures by Dell’Aglio-Mitchell and the other award winners will be featured in the Grounds For Sculpture’s fall/winter exhibition, running Oct. 10 through Jan. 9 in Hamilton, N.J., adjacent to the ISC headquarters. The sculptures will also be featured in the October 2010 issue of Sculpture magazine and on www.sculpture.org.
