The University of Akron and Stark State College continue to offer college classes for credits providing Barberton residents an opportunity to get a start on their college degrees. Fall courses begin Aug. 23 and will include a wide selection of classes offered at $135.75 per credit hour.

Students enrolled in the college-level classes obtain affordable tuition and benefit from small classes providing undivided attention to each student. Kelly Herold, coordinator of the Barberton program for UA’s Summit College, notes that convenient parking is an additional bonus.

Barberton residents continue to support higher education for their community, evidenced by the growth in enrollment since we started this program,” said Wally Hoffer, dean of student services at Stark State.

Interested residents can learn more at an information session July 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lake Anna YMCA, 500 West Hopocan Ave. in Barberton.

Classes are offered at several locations, including Barberton High School, Barberton Library, Lake Anna YMCA and the Senior Recreation Center.
