Zips Baja Racing Team triumphs on the off-road circuit at Baja SAE Ohio 2023

The Zips Baja Racing Team, representing The University of Akron (UA), recently competed at the annual Baja SAE Ohio competition held in Nashport, Ohio, which featured 79 teams from universities across the country. UA’s team delivered an impressive performance and received an overall ranking of 15th place.
Here are the results of the team’s achievements in the various categories of the competition:
- Acceleration: 22nd place
- Maneuverability: 29th place
- Pilot Pull: 23rd place
- Suspension: 14th place
- Endurance: 15th place
- Design: 14th place

Trent Bolek, captain of Zips Baja, shared his gratitude for the team's efforts, stating, "I am immensely proud of every member of our team, recognizing the commitment they consistently bring. I am grateful for our graduating seniors, whose contributions have been pivotal to our team's success. A special thanks goes out to all the student members and the faculty at UA who provided invaluable support to the Zips Baja team throughout this year. As the team captain, I take great pride in leading this remarkable group and look forward to continuing in this role for the upcoming competition season."
The Zips Baja Racing Team's performance at Baja SAE Ohio 2023 is a testament to the dedication and hard work of its members. It takes months of planning, designing and rigorous testing to prepare for such a competition, and the Zips have shown their ability to rise to the challenge.
