Lamalani Suarez,is an aquatic ecologist and a BRIC- PhD candidate who brings non-traditional STEM education curriculum to K-12 schools on behalf of TIES, the Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM. TIES saw an opportunity to help parents suddenly burdened with teaching their children at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, and created a series of webinars containing hands-on education for K-12 learners and curriculum content for parents and educators.  Lamalani brings outdoor biomimicry education to those stuck indoors, and also guides learners while they explore safely outside to discover what they can learn from nature
