Learn about interdisciplinary research being conducted by Biomimicry Fellows

08/26/2019

Our Biomimicry Research and Innovation Center (BRIC) is inviting members of the campus community to learn about the interdisciplinary research being conducted by its Biomimicry Fellows at a Biomimicry Research Symposium. The event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. with an open-door poster session, catered appetizers and a cash bar in the 11th floor atrium in the Goodyear Polymer Center.

Biomimicry Fellows are designated students in our integrated bioscience and polymer science Ph.D. programs. They are supported through industrial assistantships with a wide variety of organizational sponsors ranging from the Cleveland Zoo to Lubrizol. The Fellows — in their interdisciplinary training in biology, design, engineering and business — dedicate up to 20 hours per week to advancing biomimicry initiatives within their sponsoring organizations, while undertaking biomimicry-focused dissertation research.

BRIC launched the Biomimicry Fellowship Program in 2012, with strategic partner Great Lakes Biomimicry, and has since enrolled more than 20 Biomimicry Fellows who have relocated to Akron from across the globe.

To attend the Biomimicry Research Symposium, you can register online.
