Q & A with Dr. Robert Veillette, Program Specialist

Q: What colleges did you attend and what years did you graduate?

• Ph.D. Electrical Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1990
• M.S. Electrical Engineering, Clemson University, 1985
• B.S. Electrical Engineering, Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, 1982

Q: When did you join The University of Akron?

I joined UA in 1990. Before joining UA I worked at NASA Lewis Research Center and the Lawrence Livermore National Lab.

Q: Where is your hometown?

I was born in Washinton, D.C. I grew up in Maryland and I have spent more than half of my life in Akron.

Q: What is your job description?

To my boss: I am a part-time teacher; a consultant on matters of curriculum and policy; and a guy who can use the curriculum proposal system.

To my students: I am an advisor. Any student may visit or contact me for academic counseling. I have particular experience with evaluating transfer credits and advising students on probation. I also enjoy having technical discussions about engineering or mathematical subject matters.

To all: I am a sympathetic listener and sharer of thoughts.

Q: What is something interesting about yourself?

Recently, I got my amateur radio license. (I do not operate much yet, but Max Fightmaster and I do sometimes bore others at lunch.)

I bought an emergency car starter one weekend last month and got a chance to use it the very next Monday morning.

Currently, I am looking at giving away a Wurlitzer Spinet to anyone who can move it.
