All in-person classes to resume as scheduled on Monday, April 24

The University of Akron will resume normal operations beginning Monday, April 24.

All daytime and evening in-person classes will resume as scheduled in all buildings – including in the Polsky Building and College of Business.

University of Akron to return to normal operations; evening classes in Polsky Building and College of Business to remain remote through April 21

The University of Akron main campus will return to in-person classes on Thursday, April 20, with the exception of evening classes, beginning at 6 p.m. or later, in the Polsky Building and College of Business, which will remain remote through the end of the week.

Both buildings will be closed at 6 p.m. and swipe access will be disabled.

Campus will be open and operational. All employees scheduled to work on campus on Thursday and Friday, April 20 and 21, should do so.

Organizers of on-campus events can use their discretion as to whether to continue to hold their event. Evening events in both the Polsky Building and the College of Business are cancelled through Friday.

The University will continue to monitor events in the city and will communicate any additional changes to campus operations as needed.

UA classes to remain remote; events to resume Wednesday, April 19

Classes held in person at UA’s main campus will remain remote for Wednesday, April 19.

Campus is open and expected to be operational, however, employees who are able to work from home are encouraged to do so on Wednesday. Employees with questions should consult with their supervisor.

Organizers of on-campus events for Wednesday should use their discretion as to whether to continue to hold their event.

Bierce Library modified hours for April 19 and 20

Bierce Library will have modified building hours on Wednesday, April 19, and Thursday, April 20.

  • Wednesday, April 19: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 20: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday, April 21: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 22: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 23: noon to midnight

Online resources and virtual services are fully available.

UA classes to go remote effective Tuesday, April 18; employees encouraged to work remotely

Out of an abundance of caution, The University of Akron will move all in-person classes at the main campus to remote instruction beginning Tuesday, April 18, until further notice. Additionally, all day and evening events on campus are cancelled until further notice. Student-athletes should consult with their coaches on the status of practices and sporting events.

Campus is open and expected to be operational, however, employees who are able to work from home are encouraged to do so. Employees with questions should consult with their supervisor.

UA evening classes for Monday, April 17, to go remote; All on-campus evening events cancelled

The University of Akron main campus is moving all evening classes for Monday, April 17, to remote instruction and all evening on-campus events are cancelled.

Members of the campus community should exercise caution when traveling downtown as some roads are now closed.

The University of Akron Police Department (UAPD) and the administration will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate any additional changes in operations via email, social media and the University’s website as needed.

Classes in Polsky Building and College of Business remain remote; Roo Express route changes announced

The University of Akron moved all classes in the Polsky Building and the College of Business to remote learning as of Friday, April 14, at noon. Classes held in person in those buildings will remain remote until further notice.

Employees in those two buildings are asked to work from home until further notice.

Both buildings are closed and swipe access will be disabled until the buildings are reopened.

Additionally, the Roo Express shuttle will no longer stop at the Polsky Building or the College of Business until further notice.

The shuttle will return to its normal routing once the University has reopened these two buildings.

The shuttle will continue to stop at the downtown student housing locations. For the fastest service, it is recommended that students who are returning to downtown housing board the shuttle at either the South Hall or South Campus Parking Deck stops. The shuttle will stop at the Student Union after it has returned from the downtown student housing locations.

All METRO service, including the DASH shuttle, will continue to operate as normal. Downtown riders should check yourmetrobus.org for up-to-date information regarding for detours, etc.  before riding. The University will continue to monitor the situation related to the grand jury deliberations occurring in the City of Akron, and will communicate with the campus community via email, social media and the website if there are any additional changes to campus operations during the week (April 17-21).
