How to permit us to talk with a parent (or someone else) about your financial aid
Students: Want us to be able to talk to your parents (or a third party) about your financial aid? You need to give us permission first. You can do it online right now. Here's how:
- Log into My Akron using your UANetID and password
- Go to the Student Center
- Scroll to the Personal Information section
- Click on Release of Confidential Information
- Click add Another Relationship
- Enter the relationship, name of the authorized entity, a 6-digit passcode, and the answers to three security questions
- Check the boxes of the offices that can talk to this person/entity on your behalf
- Share the passcode and/or the answers to the security questions with this person/entity
Important:
- When the authorized person calls or stops in, we will ask him or her for the passcode or answers to your security questions before we will discuss your information.
- You can update the authorization/s, add additional authorizations, or revoke authorization/s at any time by repeating these steps.
