Early Childhood Generalist (ECG) Endorsement – Grades 4-5
The School of Education offers teachers who hold or are pursuing a Pre-K-3 license the opportunity to earn a 4-5 endorsement on their license over the course of one term. The Early Childhood Generalist endorsement is comprised of three 3-credit hour courses, all aligned with the Ohio Learning Standards for grades four and five. The endorsement on the K-3 teaching license broadens the teacher's employment options enabling the teacher to teach grades K-5.
Requirements:
- The 4/5 Endorsement is required in order for a K-3-licensed teacher to teach in grades 4 or 5.
- Students need to complete the three courses and pass the Ohio Assessment for Educators exams 018 & 019 in order to qualify for the endorsement on their teaching license.
Total credit hours: 9
Courses:
- EDCI 640 Development of Children Grades 4 & 5 (3 credit hours, includes 50 hours field experience)
- EDCI 641 Fourth Grade Curriculum and Instruction (Science) (3 credit hours)
