Hours & Admission

  • We have resumed our standard admission rates and expanded our open hours. Our museum webpage contains up to date hours and admission rates.

  • The Cummings Center and The University of Akron will continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19. Hours and protocols may be subject to change.

Visitor Expectations

  • In accordance with updated The University of Akron guidelines (February 28, 2022), visitors are no longer required to wear a mask or face covering in the museum and galleries. Visitors are welcome to wear a mask or face covering at their own discretion. Free masks are still available at the front desk upon request.

  • If you are feeling sick, experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, or have been around someone who has exhibited symptoms, we ask that you please stay home. Consider exploring our digital repository or online exhibits.

    • If you are able to, please take your temperature at home before leaving. A temperature of 100.4F or greater is considered to be a fever and may be related to COVID-19.

  • Hand sanitizer stations are placed throughout the museum and galleries, and regular hand sanitization is encouraged.

  • The museum and galleries are self-guided, and social distancing of at least 6 feet should be observed between unrelated groups. Please yield for others at entrances and exits as necessary.

  • Backpacks/large bags, food, and drinks, including water bottles, are not permitted in the museum and galleries.

Exhibit Closures & Cleaning Procedures

  • All exhibits and interactive displays in the museum have been reactivated. Guests are advised to sanitize their hands before and after touching any screens, handles, or exhibit components, and should use discretion in choosing whether to interact with these exhibits.

  • All water fountains are disabled and closed.

  • Restrooms remain open and are cleaned regularly.

  • Limited seating is available and cleaned regularly.

  • High-touch surfaces, including touch screens, handles, and railings, are cleaned regularly. 

  • Plexiglass screens are installed at the front desk and 4th floor reception to minimize contact between staff and visitors.
