What is H5P?

H5P is an innovative HTML5 authoring suite. H5P stands for HTML5 Package. You can use H5P to add interactive, mobile-friendly content to your courses in Brightspace. Here are five things to know about H5P.

1. H5P is an open-source technology.
   The term “open-source” refers to something people can modify and share because its design is publicly accessible and in most cases, free to use. When H5P is implemented into an existing platform, users receive more than just cool interactive content, they also gain the assistance and support of a large community of contributors that will help to build new features at zero cost.

2. H5P is very intuitive to use.
   If you can fill out a form, you can use H5P. When you create a new item, you will simply complete a template and click Save. 

3. H5P is integrated with Brightspace.
   To get started, simply open the HTML editor anywhere in Brightspace (content, announcements, or discussion are most common). Then choose Insert Stuff, scroll down and choose H5P Insert Stuff.
   
   

4. You Can Create Many Types of Interactives
   H5P makes it easy to create interactive content by providing a range of content types for various needs. Take a look at this page for many examples.
5. You Can Grade an H5P Interactive
   H5P Content will automatically be added to the Brightspace grade book. As soon as you Insert a new H5P item in your course, it will automatically be added to your grade book. You can modify the settings in H5P and in Brightspace to control this.
