Professional & Academic Experience
Christopher “Chris” Garman is a State & Local Tax Senior Associate in the Cleveland office of Grant Thornton. He specializes in state and local income/franchise compliance as well as sales/use tax consulting for both public and private companies. He has experience working with tax authorities to claim numerous tax credits and incentives for expanding businesses. Prior to his time with Grant Thornton, Chris was a tax accountant with Weidrick, Livesay, & Mitchell, LLC.
Chris received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting, as well as his Master of Taxation from The University of Akron’s George A. Daverio School of Accountancy.
Chris is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, Tax Club of Cleveland, and United Way Young Leaders. He is also involved in assisting the American Cancer Society, Providence House, and United Way of Greater Cleveland.
Chris’s advice for students is, “Try something new! Get out of your comfort zone starting right now!”
