The University of Akron Color Guard
Thank you for your interest in the University of Akron Color Guard!
As a member of "Ohio's Pride," The University of Akron Marching Band, dedication, determination, and skills are required for success. Our Colorguard members enjoy performance and leadership opportunities while improving skills and cultivating life-long friendships.
To be considered for membership in The University of Akron’s Color Guard, applicants should attend the Colorguard Clinic Day on Sunday, May 4 from 1 - 5 p.m. Please meet at Guzzetta Recital Hall (157 University Ave., Akron, OH) promptly at 12:30 p.m. Please plan to bring water. Equipment will be provided, but if you have access to a standard six-foot pole with 36x54 silk, you are welcome to bring that with you.
All prospective color guard members must pre-register.
The UA Colorguard Clinic Day will include a review of spinning skills and techniques, performance persona, routine
retention, and overall attitude. The following skills and techniques will be covered:
- Drop spins
- Carves
- Flutters
- Tosses
- 45 Angle Toss
- J-Toss
- Pop Toss
- Money Toss
- The University of Akron Fight Song
- Aspects from Ohio’s Pride Pregame Show
- Marching Skills
- Marking time
- Movement
Applicants who are unable to attend the UA Clinic Day should contact Amber Dudley (amber.dudley@yahoo.com) and email video of a prepared maximum 64 count routine that showcases your skills and performance capabilities. Applicants can select the song of their choosing.
