Training opportunities abound at UA

There are many ways to "sharpen the saw" at the University

Institute for Teaching and Learning — The institute strives:

  • to coordinate, promote and support efforts to improve the success of our students both inside and outside the classroom, and
  • to advance and disseminate scholarly investigations into the teaching and learning process as well as discipline-specific research activities involving students.

During the fall and spring semester, the institute offers a robust calendar of events primarily directed at faculty members. In the spring, the institute holds its annual Celebration of Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Visit the institute on the fourth floor of Leigh Hall. It is on the Web at www.uakron.edu/itl

HR Training and Development Services — In Talent Development and Human Resources, Training and Development Services uses adult learning methods to enhance the knowledge and skill levels of UA's diverse population of employees, students and others.

The department offers certifications in communications, service excellence, workplace efficiency, among other topics. And this is the place to learn about improving your service to customers and negotiating skills. Classes for supervisors are offered, too!

Software Training and Technological Services — In Information Technology Services, the Software Training group offers sessions throughout the year to help you become the master of your virtual desktop. Here's a complete list.

See what HR and computer training sessions are being offered in the weeks ahead.
