The University of Akron will never e-mail you and ask you to disclose or verify your UA password. If you receive a suspicious e-mail with a link to update your account information, do not click on the link--instead, report the e-mail to The University of Akron for investigation.

If you have MFA setup, you can reset your own password with these instructions:
Change Password
- Go to the Microsoft portal website at portal.office.com and sign in with your email and current password.
- Click on your profile picture in the top right corner and select "My Microsoft account".
- On the left side of the page, click on "Security".
- Under "Password security", click on "Change my password".
- Enter your current password and click "Sign in".
- Enter a new password that is at least 8 characters long and contains a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. You can also use the password generator tool to create a strong password.
- Re-enter your new password and click "Next".
- You will be asked to verify your identity by sending a code to your recovery email or phone number. Choose the option that works for you and follow the instructions to enter the code.
- Once you verify your identity, you will see a confirmation message that your password has been changed. Click "Next".
- You will be signed out of all your devices and need to sign in again with your new password. You can also review your recent activity and security settings on the next page.
Forgot Password
- Go to the Microsoft portal website at portal.office.com and sign in with your email and current password.
- At the logon page, click on I can't access my account
- Select "work or School Account"
- Enter your university email address and the security characters.
- Select a verification option
- At this point you will need to follow the prompts to continue.
If you are not enrolled in MFA yet, you will have to call us during business hours at 330-972-6888 to change it. We cannot change your password via email or chat session.
If you are a current UA Faculty, Staff, or Student, then you are entitle up to 5 installs of Microsoft Office 365. You may visit a guide on how to do that by clicking here.
Eduroam
For current students, staff and faculty, the wireless network you will want to connect to is Eduroam. Your full university email address and password will be required to connect. Eduroam is a worldwide network access service developed for the international research and education community. It allows affiliates from participating institutions to obtain internet connectivity on campus. More information about Eduroam as well as instructions on how to connect can be found here.
Roo-Guest
This network is for guests visiting the university and for connecting media devices to the network. Please note that UA resources such as myAkron or Brightspace are unavailable while connected to this network. Do not use this network for your normal network needs.

With recent upgrades to the wireless network, gaming and media devices that do not support WPA2 Enterprise, can be connected to the Roo-Guest wireless network. To do this you will need to register your device for it to get connected. For instructions please follow the link to the knowledge base article for Gaming and Media Devices.

Tips to avoid Phishing attempts...
- Be wary of emails asking for confidential information
- Don't get pressured into providing sensitive information
- Familiarize yourself with a website's privacy policy
- Watch out for generic-looking requests for information
- Never submit confidential information via forms embedded within email messages.
- Never use links in an email to connect to a website unless you are absolutely sure they are authentic.
- Keep your computer and browser patched and updated.
