Biography

Dr. De Abreu-Garcia joined the University of Akron in 1987. He served as the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Chair for 14 years. He is the co-founder and director of the Center for Advanced Vehicles and Energy Systems (CAVES). Dr. De Abreu Garcia served as the Associate and Track Editor of the IEEE transactions on Industrial Electronics for over 14 years. He has consulted for NASA and several Fortune 500 companies, and developed/taught on-site training workshops for industrial engineers.  He is the recipient of the College of Engineering's Louis A. Hill Jr. Faculty Award and Outstanding Engineering Research Award.
