Biography

Dr. Siamak Farhad joined the Mechanical Engineering Department of The University of Akron in 2013. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo (Canada) in 2012. During his Ph.D., he spent two years as a visiting researcher at the National Research Council (NRC) Canada and later served as a Post-doctoral Fellow in the 'Applied Nano-materials & Clean Energy Lab' at the University of Waterloo, where he contributed to the GM Electric Vehicle project in 2012 and 2013.

Dr. Farhad boasts a remarkable publication record, with over 100 research articles published in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and major international conference proceedings. His contributions have earned him several awards, including the Breakthrough Research Project (NSF), Best Paper Award from ASME Energy Sustainability Conference, Industrial Fellowship (NSERC) award, and the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) award.

Currently, Dr. Farhad holds the position of Director at the Timken Foundation Center for Precision Manufacturing, a prestigious industry-driven research and workforce development center. Additionally, he serves as the Director of the Manufacturing Graduate Certificate Program within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Farhad has secured multiple external grants and funds from esteemed organizations such as NSF, DOD, DOE, the State of Ohio, and Industry. With over a decade of experience in academia, four years in the industry, and four years in research centers, Dr. Farhad brings extensive expertise to his current roles.
