A progressive and dynamic graduate program

The University of Akron (UA) School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration announced updates to its M.A. Theatre Arts-Arts Administration Program. For decades, UA’s Master of Arts in Theatre Arts-Arts Administration has been a leader in the field, preparing generations of graduates for successful careers as administrators, advocates, and leaders in all disciplines of the arts. The program has always been committed to balancing theoretical study in the classroom with application through practical experiences and internships.

Beginning spring semester 2019, the M.A. Theatre Arts-Arts Administration program continues its commitment to students as it announces an even more competitive academic program. In the newly approved program, the MA Theatre Arts-Arts Administration degree will require that students complete a minimum of 36 graduate-level credits, allowing for more flexibility in the completion of internships and out-of-the-classroom experiences. Another change in the program, M.A. Theatre Arts-Arts Administration students will now have the choice to complete either a traditional written master’s thesis or a final project option. The new final project option, while still contributing to the greater body of knowledge and requiring a significant written component, will allow students more freedom in using their skills and interests to produce a meaningful culmination of their academic and professional experiences.

With a strong commitment to its roots, the UA School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration’s M.A. Theatre Arts-Arts Administration program aims to continue educating, preparing, and supporting arts administrators, advocates, and leaders for successful lives and careers as it enhances students’ experiences through these strategic revisions.

The University of Akron School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration is currently accepting applications for the M.A. Theatre Arts-Arts Administration degree program.
