Manufacturing Graduate Certificate Program

We offer a 15-credit Manufacturing Graduate Certificate Program through the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The provides engineering and engineering technology professionals an opportunity to extend and update their knowledge in the area of manufacturing.

This program is designed for people who cannot make the commitment to a full graduate degree program but would like to receive recognition for their expanded knowledge in this area of study.

The benefits of this Certificate Program are:

Students will explore recent technological innovations in manufacturing and develop specialized skills to boost their overall expertise.
Upon completion of this program, graduates will have filled gaps in their skillset in manufacturing areas of their choosing.
Certificate credits will apply to a future graduate program, where only three more classes are needed to receive a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Short Educational Workshops

The Timken Foundation Center for Precision Manufacturing (CPM) provides a range of workforce training solutions that leverage the College of Engineering and Polymer Science’s knowledge-base and capabilities. This Center specializes in customized training developed specifically for your employees. Depending on your company’s particular needs, our courses can be taught on-site at your location, or at our state-of-the-art facility on the campus of The University of Akron. Many companies prefer on-site training because it allows many employees to be trained without paying for their travel-related expenses.

Our programs are designed to enhance on-the-job effectiveness for all professionals working in precision manufacturing, particularly, precision finishing and metrology, Industry 4.0, and Modeling.
