Marian Breland Bailey

Marian Breland Bailey was born Marian Kruse on December 2, 1920 in Minneapolis Minnesota.  She got her B.A at the University of Minnesota which is also where she started her graduate work under B.F. Skinner.  She was Skinner's Graduate Assistant before becoming a PH. D. student working under his advisement.  It was during this time that she met and married Keller Breland.  Keller and Marian had three children together, Francis, Brad and Elizabeth.  

When Keller died in 1965 she continued to run ABE with the assistance of Robert Bailey, Grant Evans and others.  By 1977 she and Robert Bailey decided to marry.  Robert (Bob) had three sets of twins ages 5 to 15 when Marian married him, and she stepped into the role of Mother all over again. 

With Bob by her side she kept the IQ Zoo and ABE open until 1990.  After that she and Bob still taught lessons on animal training and animal behavior.
