Schrank Hall North 152 Testing Lab

Computer Based Assessment and Evaluation maintains an 82 station computer testing Lab, with 2 distraction reduced testing rooms for students with accommodations, in Schrank Hall North 152 on the University of Akron main campus. Testing in Computer Based Assessment and Evaluation is done by appointment or walk-in basis during the open lab hours of operation. Services include computer-based UA course testing, placement testing for UA students, and Scantron test scoring for UA faculty.

Placement testing for UA students

August 2022

Math placement testing is available online for first attempt. Students will be registered if these tests are required.

Reading and writing testing is currently available online through Brightspace for first attempt, rather than Accuplacer. Brightspace is cloud-based software that UA faculty members use to host course content. Students will be registered and contacted if reading and writing tests are required. Computer Literacy Testing is available onsite at Computer Based Assessment and Evaluation. You may request an appointment online. Contact if you have any questions.

Foreign Language Placement Testing is available to students choosing to test into a foreign language course.

  • French, German, Spanish, and Italian are available online through My Akron. Select the placement-test icon on the left side of the "My Experience" page. For more, see our Foreign language requirements.
  • Latin is available online through Brightspace. Contact to register and receive instructions.

Retesting? Students should contact their academic advisor for information about retesting options.

Students in Need of Test Equipment or Space?

Currently enrolled students can access laptops through Bierce Library and our Department of Information Technology Services. How to check out a laptop.

Faculty are also encouraged to refer students to the testing centers if they lack appropriate space or equipment, or prefer to take online administered testing in person.
