Simon AdamteySimon Adamtey - assistant professor of construction management

Simon Adamtey, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of construction management at Kent State University where he teaches several courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Adamtey obtained his bachelor’s degree in construction management in Ghana where he worked with concrete in both the civil and commercial sectors. He holds a master’s in construction management from Bowling Green State University, Ohio and a PhD in construction management from Indiana State University, Indiana. Dr. Adamtey’s research in construction management focuses on project delivery methods, quality management, construction risk management, technology applications and trenchless technologies. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Chris Bennett

Chris Bennett, CSI, iSCS, CDT is the founder of Bennett Build. As an owner and designer representative, Chris works with project teams in delivering sustainable outcomes in concrete. He has a broad range of concrete and flooring construction experience in commercial, institutional and manufacturing applications for both public and private clients. Chris assists in bridging language, perspective and technical gaps to ensure successful execution and ensure high gains in sustainability. Chris is a proud US Navy veteran and spent his pre-construction career in linguistics and cryptology.

Heather DyllaHeather Dylla  - a Sustainable Pavement Engineer for the Federal Highway Administration

Heather Dylla, Ph.D. is a Sustainable Pavement Engineer for the Federal Highway Administration, where she manages the FHWA Sustainable Pavements Program and the Pavement Policy. In this role, she is leading an effort to incorporate principles of life cycle thinking into the design and decision-making process that include the three pillars of sustainability: economic, environmental, and social impacts. Prior to joining FHWA, Heather was the Director of Sustainable Engineering for the National Asphalt Pavement Association where she managed programs that assisted producers, contractors, and designers in improving the sustainability of pavement construction. In this role, she led an industry effort to develop an Environmental Product Declarations Program for asphalt mixtures. Heather obtained her doctorate from the Louisiana State University where she focused on quantifying the environmental impacts of photocatalytic concrete pavements.

Thad GoodmanMike Fiske - corrosion engineer

Thad Goodman, FCSI, CDT, CCPR LEED Green Associate is the Construction Design Manager for the National Gypsum Company. His primary responsibilities are education of gypsum products and assembly issues in commercial buildings to the Architectural community throughout the Great Lakes/Upper Midwest States.

Mr. Goodman is active in the Construction Specification Institute. He is currently the Secretary of the Columbus Chapter, President of the CSINext Chapter, President-Elect of the Great Lakes Region and a Director for the Cincinnati Chapter.

Jeremy GregoryDr. Jeremy Gregory - Research Scientist at MIT

Jeremy Gregory, Ph.D. is a research scientist in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Executive Director of the Concrete Sustainability Hub at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Gregory studies the economic and environmental implications of engineering and system design decisions, particularly in the area of materials production and recovery systems. Research topics include product and firm environmental footprinting, manufacturing and life-cycle cost analysis, and characterization of sustainable material systems. He has applied these methods, often with industry partners, to a range of different products and industries including pavements, buildings, automobiles, electronics, consumer goods, and waste treatment and recovery.

Manigandan KannanDr. Manigandan Kannan - Assistant Professor of Engineering Practice in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Akron

Manigandan Kannan, Ph.D. obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng. 2009) degree in Mechanical Engineering from India and his MS and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Akron, USA. Dr. Kannan is presently Assistant Professor of Engineering Practice in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Akron. He is the author of over 60 technical publications in archival journals, proceedings of national and international conferences including two chapters in books. He has also been an editor of a book named Manufacturing Techniques for Materials: Engineering and Engineered (CRC Press). His research interests and expertise include failure and fracture analysis of materials across the broad spectrum of metals and the family of composites to include novel metal-matrix composites and high-performance ceramic matrix composites. His current research work is on the use of additive manufacturing in repairing rotor blades of jet engines.

Shadi NazarianShadi Nazarian - Associate Professor in the Deparment of Architecture  at Penn State University

Shadi Nazarian is an associate professor in the Deparment of Architecture at Penn State University. In fall of 2017, Nazarian co-led an interdisciplinary Penn State team to earn second place ($150,000 prize) in NASA’s 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge, a centennial challenge competition established to develop the technology necessary to create shelters to support the human exploration of Mars.

Nazarian holds a post-professional Master of Architecture and a minor in Theory of Architecture from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. Nazarian also holds a professional B.A. as well as a Bachelor of Environmental Design from University of Minnesota, School of Architecture, College of Design. Her professional portfolio includes works at Pei Cobb Freed and Partners in New York City; Thomas Associates in Ithaca, New York; and Studio for Architecture in Buffalo, New York.

Lameck OnsarigoDr. Lameck Onsarigo - Assistant Professor of Construction Management at Kent State University

Lameck Onsarigo, Ph.D. earned his BS in Construction Management at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, his Master of Technology Management (MTM) and MBA at Bowling Green State University, and earned his Ph.D. in Technology Management at Indiana State University. He currently is an Assistant Professor of Construction Management at Kent State University in Ohio.

Milena RangelovDr. Milena Rangelov - visiting NRC postdoctoral fellow at the Federal Highway Administration on Sustainable Pavements Program

Milena Rangelov, Ph.D. earned her BS and MS in Civil Engineering at the University of Belgrade. She got her Ph.D. at Washington State University, where her research focus was on concrete durability, material characterization, and concrete pavements. She is currently a visiting NRC postdoctoral fellow at the Federal Highway Administration on Sustainable Pavements Program. Her research is focused on the integration of life cycle thinking into pavement design, using EPDs to effectively achieve emission, reductions, and life cycle assessment of pavement materials, designs, and systems.

Nick SafleyNick Safley - Assistant Professor in architecture

Nick Safley, Assistant Professor of Architecture, is a designer whose work focuses on architectural character, rough materiality, and large-scale experimental fabrication. He has practiced for a range of experimental design firms including the LADG and NADAAA. Safley received a BArch from the University of Oklahoma and a MArch from The University of Michigan.

Whitney SeyboldWhitney Seybold - Concrete Intelligence Agency

Whitney Seybold, is a concrete expert at Concrete Intelligence Agency. During her career, Seybold has accumulated a high-level of expertise in the area of concrete construction. Her roles during her career include, estimator, project manager, field operations manager, and laborer.

Rae Taylor

Rae Taylor, Ph.D. is a research scientist at Ochre Consulting which provides technical consulting services. Dr. Taylor specializes in materials science, with her main focus being construction materials. Her current projects are rooted in the development of a more resilient, and thus "greener" concrete.
