Biography

Spring Healy is a first-year Graduate Assistant in the Arts Administration Graduate Program. She received her B.A. in English with a minor in Arts Management from Bowling Green State University in 2017. During her time as an undergraduate she studied abroad at Keele University in Keele, England, where she studied English. Her interest in arts administration was sparked when she interned at the Toledo Arts Commission and was able to see firsthand all the work that goes into making an arts nonprofit function. Spring is fascinated with the various ways that the arts can engage community, bring people together, and sometimes transcend language creating a unique form of expression. Following her passion for dance, Spring was an intern at the American Dance Festival (ADF) during the summer of 2017, and returned the following summer to act as ADF’s School Operations Coordinator. She was also an intern at the Envision Festival in Uvita, Costa Rica, a music and multi-arts festival focused on community, sustainability, and movement. Spring hopes to expand her knowledge of arts administration as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Akron, and use her skills to effectively advocate for the arts.
