A traditional statistics degree equips students with a deep knowledge of Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science as well. Gain hands-on experience through the Center of Statistical Consulting, applying your knowledge as a consultant. This is a flexible degree with a core in Calculus and Statistics, leaving options for diverse targeted electives in areas of statistics research, machine learning, and more!
Data Science is an inter-disciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from any structural and unstructured data. Data Science is related to data mining, deep learning and big data.
A degree in Actuarial Science enables careers in models, and measuring risk, and determining the price of various insurance products. Subjects of study include Risk Distribution, Law of Large Numbers, and Central Limit Theorem. Roles are expanding into non-traditional risk management.
Minors & Certificates:
A minor in Statistics may be easier to add to your degree than you think! Statistics will provide you insight to better understand the data in your professional field, and introduce you to the tools and mathematics to be able to produce value with that data. This minor track includes Calculus, making it a good fit for STEM majors.
A minor in Applied Statistics provides a direct line to empowering you to be a statistical consultant, giving you the knowledge to analyze and manage business data with statistical software tools. Calculus is not required on this track, and is more focused on applying statistical tools to your professional work.
