Temperature-Relative Humidity

1. Lab Description and Capabilities

  • Materials are exposed to aggressive environments, such as ultraviolet light, moisture, and elevated temperature during semi‐long periods of time
  • Expose coated and uncoated panels to the aggressive environment during different times to accelerate the corrosion damage and then analyze the damage extent on both panel and coating at the completion of the selected time
  • Accelerate damage and predict the material performance

2. Deliverables

  • Materials degradation processes are accelerated significantly under extreme environmental conditions
  • Tests simulate the effects of sunlight, dew, and rain, generating weathering data in a few weeks or months
  • Materials performance such as metals, polymers, and coatings; the types of damage include color change, gloss loss, chalking, cracking, crazing, hazing, blistering, embrittlement, strength loss, and oxidation

3. Major Equipment and Specific Minor Equipment

  • Q‐Lab Accelerated Weathering Tester QUV capable of testing up to 50 panels without the need of special mounting, actually produce “dew” on the surface of material during exposure
  • Q‐Lab Condensation Tester QCT
