The Friends of the University Libraries at The University of Akron will present a talk and book signing by Joyce Dyer, author of the UA Press-published book, “Goosetown: Reconstructing an Akron Neighborhood” on Friday, June 4 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the North Room of UA’s Martin University Center.
Dyer is director of the Lindsay-Crane Center for Writing at Literature at Hiram College and John S. Kenyon Professor of English. She has won several writing awards, including the Appalachian Book of the Year Award and 2009 David B. Saunders Award in Creative Nonfiction. Her books include
- “The Awakening: A Novel of Beginnings,”
- “In a Tangled Wood: An Alzheimer’s Journey” and
- “Gum Dipped: A Daughter Remembers Rubber Town.”
