Employment and internships
We employ over 200 University of Akron students each year. Positions include operations, facility access, lifeguards, rock wall attendants, fitness floor attendants and more.
Student employment opportunities and RecWorks
We're excited you are interested in joining our team! In order to apply for a position, you must first attend a RecWorks information session. This is the first step in learning about our student employment opportunities and application process. Registration is required, and currently scheduled sessions will be listed below.
Please note, only full-time students are eligible for employment. This means you must be registered for 12 undergraduate credit hours or 9 graduate credit hours to be eligible for student employment. Exceptions are only permitted during the summer semester.
There are not any RecWorks sessions scheduled at this time, please check back here for future sessions.
Interested in working in a recreation facility? We strive to give each intern a well-rounded internship experience that prepares them for their next professional steps. Internships typically include a major assignment to one of our program areas, with supplemental duties in supporting areas of interest. We work with each individual intern candidate to coordinate their experience with existing requirements and standards of their program. SRWS Internship opportunities are unpaid.
