Biography

Megan Delong is a lifelong Akronite and UA alumna (Sociology, minor in Women's Studies) who is returning to campus after five years of community-based work in the University Park and Middlebury neighborhoods. While an undergrad, Delong worked with EX[L] as a student manager running the administrative aspects of the Akron Community Internship Program, a role she says allowed her to "find mentors that were able to show me what it was like to be a connector of dots, resources and people - I found my love of community." Over the last five years, Delong has supported community engagement at UA, co-teaching [Un]classes, mentoring UA interns and working with numerous faculty, staff and student organizations on projects to improve University Park and the City of Akron. Megan is also a part of other community efforts such as the Everyday Akron team, the Hower House Museum Guild, the Friends of the Goodyear Branch Library Board, she is a City of Akron Public Art Commissioner, and has an interest in local government and housing initiatives. She is the recipient of the Kohl Family YMCA Volunteer of the Year Award in 2021 and the University of Akron EX[L] Center Excellence in Campus- Community Collaboration Award in 2023. When not working, Megan can be found bird watching, strolling in Jewett Park, sipping a lemonade from Compass Coffee, or enjoying a movie night at home.
