The University of Akron 's 2016 V-Day Benefit Performance of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues is a global consciousness-raising event and fundraiser to help end violence against women, celebrate women, their bodies, and their experiences.

This event is sponsored by The Women's Resource Center, Women’s Studies Program, Office of Inclusion & Equity, E. J. Thomas Hall and L.I.P Service. The monologues will be performed by UA students, faculty, staff, and Akron community members.

Seating is limited. Tickets can be purchased at the Akron Civic Box Office at 330-253-2488 or at the box office located across the street from the Civic Theatre in the Summit County Building

DR. CONSUELA WARD. ‘POWER AND PRIVILEGE’.  FEBRUARY 6, 2014. STUDENT UNION.

Dr. Consuela Ward has more than 15 years of experience in the field of diversity as a speaker, consultant, trainer, instructor, administrator, and coach. Her workshop will tackle the ways in which ‘race affects our view of the world like a pair of glasses or perhaps shades. We see through a lens based on a perspective influenced by power dynamics in lived experience’.

SOWETO GOSPEL CHOIR. FEBRUARY 26, 2014. E.J. THOMAS HALL.

The two-time Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir is heralded as one of the most exciting groups to emerge in world music in recent years. Under the direction of choirmaster David Mulovhedzi, the choir draws on the best talent from the many churches and communities in and around Soweto, South Africa. Since its first international performances in Australia in 2002, the Soweto Gospel Choir has become a worldwide phenomenon performing to sold-out audiences throughout the world.

All are invited to come by the booths and enjoy displays focusing on women’s health issues. The Women's Wellness Fair vendors include: Lupus Foundation of America, Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio, Community AIDS Network Akron Pride Initiative (CANAPI), Battered Women\'s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties, The University of Akron Student health Services, The University of Akron Student Recreation and Wellness Program, Title IX Coordinator, Alliance For Healthy Youth, American Heart Association and Akron Children's Hospital Sickle Cell Program.
