Social Work Faculty, Prof. John Ellis, Prof. Gabrielle Faggella-Fuller, and Dr. Melissa McCollister, attended the NEOMED with MSW psychopathology students.

The Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) Department of Psychiatry and Peg’s Foundation offered the inaugural Drs. Fred and Penny Frese Lecture on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018 in the NEW Center Grand Ballroom. The lecture series honors the legacy of Dr. Fred Frese and Dr. Penny Frese by sharing stories of individuals living successfully with schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses and the ways in which their loved ones support their recovery.

The 2018 Drs. Fred and Penny Frese Lecturer was Dr. Elyn Saks, the Orrin B. Evans professor of law, psychology and psychiatry and the behavioral sciences at the University of Southern California Gould Law School. She is also a mental health law expert and MacArthur Foundation Fellowship winner. Dr. Saks lives with schizophrenia and has written about her experience with the illness in her award-winning best-selling autobiography, The Center Cannot Hold, published by Hachette Books.
