Cancellation of University-sponsored international travel

We have been closely monitoring guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS) regarding international travel relative to the coronavirus.

The University of Akron’s utmost concern is the health and safety of our campus community.

Based on the continued assessment of the risks involved with the spread of the virus and the unpredictability of outcomes for being able to leave other countries once arriving, we have decided to cancel all University-sponsored international travel through at least May 31.

We take these actions out of an abundance of caution and with federal guidance to proactively protect our campus community.

We understand that this decision raises questions for those who have University-sponsored international travel plans during the next few months. More information and guidance will be provided in the near future.

Sincerely,
